The Teaching Assistant Development Program (TADP) provides training, support, and pedagogical development for the nearly 1,000 graduate students employed as Teaching Assistants (TAs) at the University of California, Riverside. Through TADP, our TAs learn to build rapport with their students, improve their instructional and organizational skills, and become responsive to the needs of UCR’s diverse student population.

TADP organizes two annual orientations for new TAs, as well as offering workshops in pedagogy throughout the academic year. In addition, TADP provides TAs with one-to-one mentorship and recognizes outstanding TAs at our annual Excellence in Teaching banquet. The University Teaching Certificate (UTC) program is also offered through TADP. This competitive instructional training and certification program is designed to assist graduate students in developing teaching and lecturing strategies, designing a teaching philosophy, and becoming members of the professional teaching community.
